Life Cycle Assessment of Artificial Wetland Systems for Rural Wastewater Treatment

نویسندگان

چکیده

Decentralized wastewater treatment technology, especially natural ecological technology has widely been used in rural regions. In this paper, a comprehensive life cycle assessment (LCA) of typical - artificial wetland was conducted. SimaPro software applied to simulate the facility, and CML2 baseline2000 impact evaluation method selected analyze environmental loads benefits during cycle. The facility adopting grey-black separation mode is compared with that unified collection model provide scientific basis suggestions for selection model. results indicated main Southeast University system comes from construction operation aeration tank. Marine water ecotoxicity factor, followed by freshwater ecotoxicity.

Life-Cycle Assessment of Wastewater Treatment Plants

This thesis presents a general model for the carbon footprints analysis of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), using a life cycle assessment (LCA) approach. In previous research, the issue of global warming is often related to traditional industries with high carbon dioxide (C0 2) emissions, such as power plants and transportation. However, the analyses of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) h...

Life Cycle Assessment of Biological Nutrient Removal Wastewater Treatment Plants

Advances in wastewater treatment over the past 150 years have improved public health and local water quality. Recently however, society has begun to consider the wider environmental implications of these improvements. This paper uses life cycle assessment to quantitatively compare the environmental costs and benefits of different wastewater treatment technologies and standards. It is demonstrat...

Life-Cycle Assessment of Advanced Nutrient Removal Technologies for Wastewater Treatment.

Advanced nutrient removal processes, while improving the water quality of the receiving water body, can also produce indirect environmental and health impacts associated with increases in usage of energy, chemicals, and other material resources. The present study evaluated three levels of treatment for nutrient removal (N and P) using 27 representative treatment process configurations. Impacts ...

Using the Life Cycle Assessment Methodology for a Comprehensive Evaluation of Energy Demand in Wastewater Treatment

Previously, the analysis of energy demand for wastewater treatment was often limited to onedimensional analyses of electricity demand. However, a comprehensive analysis requires the inclusion of all different contributions to energy demand, such as the energy required to produce chemicals (e.g. coagulants and flocculants) and transport sludge, and the additional fuels needed to dry sewage sludg...

Life cycle assessment of wastewater treatment options for small and decentralized communities.

Sustainability has strong implications on the practice of engineering. Life cycle assessment (LCA) is an appropriate methodology for assessing the sustainability of a wastewater treatment plant design. The present study used a LCA approach for comparing alternative wastewater treatment processes for small and decentralised rural communities. The assessment was focused on two energy-saving syste...
